The Science
An Idea was Born
Invented by Kevin J. Cady, the idea for the AccuraSee™ Intraocular Pseudophakic Contact Lens (IOPCL) came from years of paying witness to the ophthalmic surgeon’s struggle to deliver a minimally-invasive surgical solution to “fine-tune” the refractive outcome of the pseudophakic patient, without compromising vision quality.
The AccuraSee™ IOPCL is a neutral spherical optic made of biocompatible tested silicone (Biosil™). The AccuraSee IOPCL is designed to share the space, auto-center and securely couple with any pre-existing IOL in the eyes capsular bag, without the inherent risk associated with sulcus placed lens platforms (e.g., recurrent iridocyclitis, uveitis-glaucoma-hyphemia (UGH) syndrome, vitreous hemorrhage, cystoid macular edema, et cetera).
Although originally designed to adjust the refractive error in the pseudophakic eye, the AccuraSee™ IOPCL platform can be customized to allow for astigmatic correction, cornea asymmetry, multifocality as well as low vision. It is also fully reversable for either refractive power adjustment or multifocal reversibility.
Introducing the the AccuraSee™ IOPCL AMD Mag! This novel lens technology is specially designed to deliver an unsurpassed level of magnified vision for the pseudophakic patient who suffers from low vision, most specifically, advanced stage age related macular degeneration (AMD). The lens will serve as a near magnifier for the patient when the patient’s pupil both constricts and converges. The peripheral area of the optic refractive power is neutral so light rays in this zone are unchanged at distance.
